Essential Oils

Origins & Use

The use of Essential Oils traces back to ancient times, included in ancient rituals and for beautification. Today, Essential Oils are still used for wellness of the body, mind, and soul, and as an natural alternative to chemicals you may find in cleaning agents, skin and hair products. You can find Essential Oils in cosmetics, delicious dishes, aromatherapy, and in religious and spiritual ceremonies.

The most common uses are for topical application, dietary consumption and aromatic diffusion for calming and health-promoting benefits. Each oil has a different purpose and method of use. I list some general benefits below, though I encourage you to do your own research to understand all of their unique benefits.

Benefits of Essential Oils

Alternative to Chemicals

A variety of Essential Oil based cleaning agents act as natural alternatives for all areas of your home. Use them to diffuse the air, spray linens for sweet dreams, and clean your space.

The nose knows! Scents can trigger memories, emotions, and provide relaxation. Essential Oils have been used in massage, in baths, and in diffusion to bring peace and relaxation.

Physical Body

Essential Oils have been used for enhancing natural beauty regimens for skin and hair, weight management, and pain management.

Spiritual Ritual

Essential Oils have been used to enhance spiritual practices and ceremony, meditation, energy work, and self care.

Young Living Essential Oils

I first started using oils as a background aroma during meditations, healing sessions, or just to make a room smell good. As I learned more about essential oils, their benefits and the importance of sourcing & quality (especially when using on skin or ingesting), I was drawn to Young Living oils. I liked their reputation and quality of creating the purest essential oils, extracted from seed to seal, through the process of steam distillation, resin tapping or cold pressing. I’ll leave it to you to do your own research and see if it makes sense for you.
